Tasks complete:

  • most of the positive status FX
  • deck shuffling (init and when you run out of cards)
  • the first batch of the sound FX
  • variable usage and cooldown times
  • screen scrolling and timer functions
  • warning and error messages

Implemented a delay after using a card. This is so that you may see what your opponent is about to use. Also did boosting effects and mouse wheel selection of cards.

Coins have been implemented, and displaying cards on the screen also. One basic card has been done (Power). Going on vacation for a week+, so no updates for a while.

Class Enemy and Shot are finished, and some basic sound FX are complete. Basic collision detection is implemented too. Next up is working on the items (coins) that are picked up.

Class Player has been implemented, and also title screen music and basic player movement are complete.

The 1st pass of the player select screen, deck select screen, and opponent select screen are done.

Finally decided on a game engine to use: HGE. It pretty much has everything necessary for building a 2D game (even sound!).

After lots of toying around with ideas, I've decided on my next project. It will be a 2D shooter in the style of Zirconia 2, but it be a 'vs.' game, where you indirectly battle a computer opponent.

On spring break here, so just doing some easy stuff like working on the mini-game title screens for Quixotic Mayhem.

Decided on VB.NET for next project. Would've liked to use DirectX but that didn't turn out so good. Too many unidentifyable errors were being received.

My next project will be a 60+ mini-game collection! These mini-games will have no relation to each other... In one, you could be swatting flies; in another, you could be trying to unscramble a word! It will be named Quixotic Mayhem.
